Wipers work sporadically on '95 GMC Yukon?
Question:
I just bought a 1995 GMC Yukon (still barely in warranty). The wipers have decided that they are going to decide when to work, or not. Mostly they work fine, but every now and then, they will just refuse to do anything. I can hear a whining noise when the switch is on, but nothing happens. I took it into the shop, and they basically said that they will have to get it while it is in its non-functioning mode. They did say that they have seen 3 others that were doing the same thing. However, GM won’t let them fix or replace anything until they can definitively show the cause. This makes sense in a way, but in the meantime, I can’t count on them and living in Seattle, wipers are kinda important. If there were 4 vehicles at the same dealership with this same type of problem, I am wondering really how common this is to GM SUVs. Anyone else out there with any experience along these lines, or who can tell me a good course of action to force GMC’s hand toward fixing this problem.
Response:
I have had this same problem on two other gm products. I have had to go to the junk yard and pick up differant wiper relays to fix the problem. Even then the problem reappears. GM wants too much for the relays, so I just choose used parts. Eric – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> I just bought a 1995 GMC Yukon (still barely in warranty). If you have pulse wipers the problem may be the pulse circuit board mounted on the wiper motor. Kevin – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – >I have had this same problem on two other gm products.

If you have pulse wipers the problem may be the pulse circuit board mounted on the wiper motor. Kevin – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – >I have had this same problem on two other gm products.
