Dual Tank for GMC Yukon?

Question:

>What size gas tank does the Yukon/Tahoe have?  If it uses the same tank as >Suburbans, it >is a 42 gallon tank which should be more than adequate. >Roy

Unfortunately it is only a 29.5 gallon tank. This would be great is I had a tiny car getting 35 MPG, but in the Yukon (13.5MPG)  I have a range of just under 400 miles without refueling. I seem to recall that the suburban used to come with dual tanks?

The last time I drove past the local Chevy dealer, thay had a Suburban up on one of those racks that allow viewing of the underside.  The gas tank was located at the rear where a spare tire is located in pickups. The place where pickup gas tanks are located was empty.  A 4 door Tahoe is the same wheel base as a short bed regular cab pickup.  I don’t see why a pickup 25 gallon tank would not fit.  Could be pricy, but you’d get about 700 miles per fill up (55 gallons is a lot of gas to buy at one time, a lot to carry around with you as well). — Cheers, Steve 82 Z28 96 K1500 The opinions expressed here are mine alone and do not represent those of my employer or any one else. I have a 1997 GMC Yukon and was wondering if I would be able to add a second fuel tank? If so, are there any places in the Washington DC Metro area that would perform such an operation? TIA
