1999 Tahoe vs 2000 Expedition
Question:
Someone who buys a truck as a status symbol, not a truck Dennis
Response:
The "new" style Tahoe and truck are nice but after a recent visit to the junk yard for a older vehicle, I found that the only thing that is interchangeable with the new style over the old one is the tires. Nothing and I mean NOTHING will fit on the old style truck, and the dealerships here in Michigan don’t have most parts yet available for the new trucks. So if your out in the woods and you break something in the 4×4 or tranny and you need parts to get home, plan on renting a car or go to a major town and look for a junk yard and still pay as much as at the dealership. Even something as simple as power mirrors are 300.00 in the junk yard and the dealership is back ordered 3 months, Go figure!!! So think twice before buying the "new" style Chevy. And as for buying a Ford, after my past experiences with Generous Motors on my 92 Sonoma that I bought new, Ford and Dodge is looking better all the time. In fact two years ago I bought a 1988 Suzuki Samurai convertible 4×4 for $40.00 and as of today it still hasn’t given me any trouble, I only wish I could say that about my Sonoma. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – >I used Autobytel to get my bet price on a 2000 Tahoe. If the 2000 tahoe was available, I would have probably bought it. there was no way I would buy an old 1999 in 2000.

Boy did someone make someone happy…. Buying a Expidition ove a Tohoe/Yukon? Hell I sell them both new and there is no way a Expidition can outdo the Yukon or Tahoe. We will order a 2000 Yukon cheaper than any dealer in the southeast. We dont have any addendum stickers on our vehicles. "Mop and Glow" as we call it is only dealer cost $35.00. By the way if you check the current black book, you will find that the 99 Tahoe is worth a lot more than the Expidition. Ford has dumped all there lease vehicles on the used market and the 99 Expiditions are cheap. So your investment is doing a fast depreciation. If any one wants to order a Dodge, Ford or GMC truck at a hell of a good price, email me. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – >The only thing I don’t like about my 99 Tohoe is the outdated styling >and the black paint.. from what i’ve heard, dealers have to start paying interest to the parent company (GM, Ford, etc.) if a vehicle sits on their lot for more than a period of a few months w/o being sold. if this is true, then the ‘99 leftover could be costing your dealer money for every day it sits there. try offering him less than invoice. i have no experience w/ testing out this theory, but i’ve heard from some people that it works. give it a shot. -rob – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – >I used Autobytel to get my bet price on a 2000 Tahoe. I would buy used before I payed Invoice anything on a truck regardless of make or model. The Dealer clearly can sell all he can get of the Tahoe’s and so doesn’t need to compete. Ford must be making enough expaditions to meet demand. The Used thing notwithstanding, I think the value is still there in the Tahoe, just because it shouldn’t depreciate as fast as the Ford, even though you may be paying more for it. I would try a few other dealers, even some GMC guys just to see if this MSRP thing is widespread. If it is, wait a couple of months…. jed
