Wiper Linkage wont stay put

Question:

I was experiencing the intermittent wiper failure I have seen discussed here several times.  I have a 94 GMC Sonoma.  I replaced the motor to attempt to solve the problem.  After installation, the wiper transmission linkage began jumping off of the crank pin.  This auto doesnt use a bolt down connection like most apparently do, but rather a nylon cap that snaps over a knob at the end of the crank.  I inspected the nylon cap and determined that there was a crack in it.  I replaced the entire transmission (available only from dealer).  So now I have a new motor and new transmission. The problem is still there.  There is no visible adjustment for this type linkage.  It just snaps on.  It appears to be sitting flush.  It will work fine with no wiper arms mounted.  Once I mount the wiper arms and turn on the motor, it will travel about 1/4 revolution and the linkage pops off. Anyone have any ideas?  This has me pretty confused. Thanks Harold Share what you know. Learn what you don’t.

The new wiper transmission included a new plastic piece.  It is all one unit. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> New plastic piece help? > I was experiencing the intermittent wiper failure I have seen discussed > here several times.  I have a 94 GMC Sonoma.  I replaced the motor to > attempt to solve the problem.  After installation, the wiper > transmission linkage began jumping off of the crank pin.  This auto > doesnt use a bolt down connection like most apparently do, but rather a > nylon cap that snaps over a knob at the end of the crank.  I inspected > the nylon cap and determined that there was a crack in it.  I replaced > the entire transmission (available only from dealer).  So now I have a > new motor and new transmission.
