wiper failure on Sonoma pickup and Safari van

Question:

I have wiper failure on BOTH of my cars!  Same part, it looks like. A 1994 Sonoma pickup and a 1995 Safari van.  Question is, do I need a new motor or just a new delay wiper circuit board (which mounts on the motor).  I had heard that the problem was with a faulty thermal cutoff sensor but that this was "internal" to the motor so it could not be fixed alone.  What is meant by "internal". Any ideas?? Thanks — Connor McGrath Sr. Scientific Applications Analyst DTP-ITB-NCI-FCRDC

There is a recall for both of these vehicles involving the wiper control circuit board (also on my wife’s ‘95 Blazer and my ‘95 Silverado).  Contact your preferred Chevy/GMC dealer and explain to him what is going on and they should install the new parts for free.  It takes about 15 or 20 minutes to do the job. You said a recall?  Do you have more information on that?  Such as what year(s) are affected for the Safari?  Thanks. David,         Yes, this is an official General Motors recall.  I received letters in the mail for both my ‘95 C1500 pick-up and my wife’s ‘95 S-10 Blazer. The recall affects models years from 1994 thru 1996, and GM replaced the wiper motor circuit board and cover free of charge.  The letter they sent (which I’m looking at right now) does not mention Safari/Astro vans, but I was told by my dealer that they are replacing the parts on those vehicles as well under this recall because it is the exact same as that which is used on other Chevy/GMC trucks that were mentioned.  Call the Chevrolet Customer Assistance Center at 1-800-222-1020 for more information.
