Stuck throttle..
Question:
I have a 97 Sonoma with the 4.3 Vortec and whenever i hit the accellerator, it sticks before letting loose… I can get under the hood and control the throttle by hand, and it appears as if there is some sort of magnetism making it stick…that’s what it feels like anyway. any ideas?
Response:
I kind of feel the same thing in my 97 Blazer 4.3 Vortec. Does it also feel like it doesn’t want to go down at first when you push it? That’s what mine does.

Response:
Assuming the throttle is controlled by a cable… Go to a Yamaha dealer. Yamaha sells a great little tool that I’ve only seen made by Yamaha. Its a cable-luber that basically clamps on to a cable and has a little hole that the red WD40 pipe fits into. When the gizmo is correctly fitted on to any cable, it forces lubricant through the entire length of the cable under pressure. I recommend not using WD40 but instead, a grease that hardens. There are a number of motorcycle chain lubes that do this and I’ve recently found a white lithium grease in aerosol at my local parts store that does this also. Doing this should eliminate any resistance in your throttle cable and make the throttle return easier. Its also a great little gizmo to have around — works on speedocables, lawnmowers and ten-speeds too. — Old iron rules OK. Before you buy.
