front brake lockup
Question:
We have a 96 Sonoma which locks the left front wheel under moderate to hard braking anytime the road is damp. The dealer claims everything is OK. None of our other GM or Dodge trucks do this. Has anyone else had this problem? Before you buy.
Response:
Check the right front for operating. If you have anti-lock brakes, make sure that they aren’t causing the RF to not actuate. Aside from that, swap the pads between the two sides and see if that makes a difference. FWIW, when let a car sit for a while, the side against the shrubbery tends to be rusty on the brakes and that causes an initial high force and then, after the rust breaks loose, a weak brake until the swept area gets cleaned off. — Bob May Access1 has gone Chapter 7 so I don’t know how long my website is going to last. Response:
GM products typically trucks have a problem with the rubber brake hose detoriating on the inside. I have a 1990 silverado that has had this problem on two occasions. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – >We have a 96 Sonoma which locks the left front wheel under moderate to >hard braking anytime the road is damp.
