What year, vehicle, problem are you looking for? Ian

Response:

1999 GMC Sierra 1500 Z71 EXT. cab. When I give it some throttle after stopping at a stop sign, it momentarily acts like it is in neutral. The engine starts to race, then the trans. grabs. This does’nt happen often, maybe 6 times in almost 30,000 miles. I took it to the dealer and he hooked it up to the computer to update the onboard computer, but it still does it. It’s not a real big issue with me, it happens so infrequently, but it will be out of warranty in 6000 miles and I know how expensive those tranny’s are!

How long ago did you visit the dealer? You might want to check back and see if you have the very latest calibration update installed on it, there looks to have been a bunch of them on those trucks. I don’t see any bulletins specifically for that problem, though (some for rough shifting, etc. but nothing to explain slippage when starting out), so there might be a real problem somewhere.. — Robert Hancock      Saskatoon, SK, Canada Home Page: http://www.roberthancock.com/
