T-CASE in a '80 Sierra 25

Question:

Question for the brain trust. I have aquired an ‘80 GMC 3/4 4×4,  the transfer case is missing the ID tag. Can anyone tell me what it is? NP203 205 208? I don’t know what I’m looking for. Thanks.

Look at the writing on the 4WD shifter knob.  If it says: 2HI 4HI N 4LO then it’s a part time 4wd system and you have an NP205 transfer case If it says: LO LOC LO N HI HI LOC then it’s a full time 4wd system and you have either an NP208 or an NP203. If your front hubs have manual lockouts on them, then it’s a part time system for sure. Tony Kimmell Normal, IL

It’s a 350>350>205. I’m looking to make it 454>400>205. FF14bolt rearend, I think a 12 bolt or Dana 44 in the front. I don’t know which, but it’ll have to be a Dana60 eventually for my purposes’.
