Silverado vs Sierra
Question:
Same trucks different option and badging. I work at a GMC dealership and Believe it or not , on a service for delivery inspection we found a Chevrolet steering wheel on a GMC. From the factory. laughed our butts off!! Mark
Response:
OK, let me re-phrase; the front of the truck has some styling differences. Outside of a little sheet metal, the Sierra and Silverado are identical. I also prefer the styling of the Sierra, but the Silverado was a little cheaper. OTOH, my wife’s vehicle is a 2001 Yukon LT. I’d really appreciate learning what distinguishes the Chevy Silverado from the comparable model of the GMC Sierra. Reviewers seem to say things like "the Sierra is slightly upscale relative to the Silverado." Certainly, the price seems to be higher. Why? Thanks for any enlightenment. -Larry Naples, NY
Response:
Different option packages. Different grille/badging and hood. That’s about it. 2 trucks with the exact same equipment (no differences) should have the same price… > I’d really appreciate learning what distinguishes the Chevy Silverado from the > comparable model of the GMC Sierra. GM is trying to make the "GMC Truck" division the luxury line of GM trucks while the Chevys are the "bread and butter" division. Basically, if you want to look pretty, get a GMC. If you want to go muddin’, get the Chevy. GM does have a way to go though before anyone sees the difference.
Response:
The only difference between the Sierra and Silverado is the grill. The price difference is due to the way the options are packaged together. Plus the fact that so many people tend to buy into the fact the the GMC is somehow more upscale, therefore worth more.
