Response:
It will cost you a bunch to do this. You have to change the seat out. Even a used seat out of a wreck costs $1000 around here. Mike L 99 Silverado 4×4 4.8L 5 spd Before you buy.

Mike – very true! Good used seats especially for a newer truck are very expensive. On some past vehicles I’ve owned, I was able to change just the seat base or frame, which had all the power mechanisms and switches included, and reuse my existing seat. However, on many newer vehicles, this is not so. But if you’ve got the money to spend and some time on your hands, switching out the seats is actually a pretty easy job. If you get the GM power seats, you will need to also add the power seat wiring harness. Under your dash near the parking brake cable is a black box with a cover over it. This is where various options such as the power seats, cell phone wiring, selectable ride, auxiliary lamps, etc., options basically just plug in. You may also have to install a circuit breaker or fuse in one of the many fuse blocks in the truck – I’m not totally certain of this, but when I added the GM fog light kit to my 99, I had to run one wire into the Underhood Bussed Electrical Center & install it into one of the multi-contact connectors, plug in one relay & one fuse. Some circuits are already live, others have to be made live. Regardless, it is not difficult. I just got a New GMC SIERRA and I forgot to order the power seats. I want to put them now. Can I ? There is only a two wire lead connected to the seat for the seat belt sensor. Would the new power lead plug into it OK ? Thanks John

at least on some vehicles.I’m guessing you have already talked to the dealer,so you must have a price.I don’t even know if it’s possible without changing the whole seat. It’s funny,I want manual seats on mine, the power ones on my last two SUVs have been a pain.On my first one,I moved the driver’s seat forward to clean out the car,and it wouldn’t move back!It was a freebie, but I had to drive it to work, and then to the dealer with the steering wheel against my chest. The second one’s buttons stick out too far,and the seat cover makes the seat move while you are driving it.Very annoying, like everything else about the seat in my soon to be ex 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
