The tri-glas starfire is made in Daleville, Alabama which about 150 miles from us here in Pensacola, FL.  You can see the shell at http://www.pendacorp.com/products/star.htm

Nice setup.  Did you splurge for the 4 dr option? jed

Sounds like a nice truck. Did they give you a build date yet? – GRL

Good choice on your truck.  We’ve got a 99 silverado xcab ls and we’ve been very happy with it so far.  It’s a much better truck than the ram that we traded in on it.  We added a tri-glas firestar semi wedge shell on it and it looks great but you have to live in the SE to get one since it’s made in AL.

I’ve asked a lot of questions over the last couple of months re: vehicle purchase, towing, etc. and I thank all for their input and advise.  Just wanted to let you know we finally took the plunge and ordered our truck – it was a factory order so we won’t actually get it till about end of March. It’s a 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 series pickup, 2WD, extended cab and short box. It’s the SLE model.  Has 5.3L V8 and 3.73 axle, automatic transmission, locking differential, HD shocks, Trailer Tow package and P25570R16 tires. We’ll be buying a cap to go over the truck bed.  This way we can store a lot of stuff which will be semi-secure – also it won’t look as ‘trucky’ with the cap.  We’ll be towing a Coleman popup but may buy  something larger later on hence the reason for the configuration described. It’s a relief that this decision is finally made.  My wife is particularly happy since I’ve been driving her nuts over the last couple of months with constant comments about engine size, towing capacity, what brand to buy, who makes the better truck, and on and on! Now that that’s done, we just have to buy the trailer.  Probably buy at RV show the beginning of March.  We plan on a large Coleman but still haven’t decided whether we need or want the glide-out model.  (There’s only the two of us).   Yes, it provides more space but also adds weight, reduces payload, and it’s one more thing to do when setting up.
