Response:
They are the same under the skin. The biggest difference is the dealer, the service department and the option packages, in that order. For instance: the Chevrolet base model comes with a center seat that does not fold down, while the GMC base model comes with the upscale seats only available on the LS model Chevrolet. Find a truck you like at a dealer you like and go for it. Mike 99 Silverado 4×4 4.8L 5 spd Before you buy.

I have a 99 GMC Sonoma 4X4. The only diff, I have found, between it and the S-10 is the front bumber and its mounts. I cannot find a winch mount for the GMC but there is one available for the S-10 from warn. I don’t know about other models. * Sent from RemarQ http://www.remarq.com The Internet’s Discussion Network * The fastest and easiest way to search and participate in Usenet – Free!

The GMC’s are a bit more expensive like maybe 200 bucks or so, and the only real difference is the body sheetmetal from the a-pillar forward. The gmc’s have a nicer looking chrome side bumper strip and the filler between the bumper and grille is painted on the gmc’s. At least thats the only difference and I have one of each, a 99 GMC and Chevy 2500 fully loaded — Darren 97 RMK 700 http://members.xoom.com/RMK700/ – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> Thinking of buying anew truck. Thinking of buying anew truck. The GMC Sierra seems to be the same truck as the Silverado. Is this true? The Sierras seem to be cheaper and if the same truck/engine….why pay more. Also, is the Cheyenne a thing of the past? thanks Todd
Response:
They are the same and the Sierra isn’t cheaper. You have to look closer at the options of each truck. They are extremely close in price. The Cheyenne trim is a thing of the past. All it was was a package name for a base truck. You can still get a base truck. Ken. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> Thinking of buying anew truck.
