1991 GMC Sierra 4×4 Instrument cluster

Question:

The odometer in my 1991 GMC Sierra 4×4 instrument cluster has died. It has oil, water, volts, fuel gage but no tach. I found a replacement cluster with tach. Are the wires neccesary to support the tach present in my harness or am I out of luck? Mike T.

Response:

It’s a 305 (gasoline) with automatic OD probably a 700R4. I was hoping GM was clever enough to use the same harness on tach and no-tach trucks so all I would need to do was plug in the cluster with a tach and be in bussiness.
