Where to get good prices for GM parts? – '98 Minivan rear wiper motor

Question:

I need to replace the rear windshield wiper motor on our ‘98 Olds Sil. minivan.  I’m not amused that it failed in three years and 45k miles of very minimal use.  We don’t get ice or much rain here in Northern California.  I can only imagine how long it would have lasted in Michigan. The dealer price for the part is $247 plus tax.  Ouch.  I’m hoping that somewhere there must be a phone or internet source selling original GM parts at a discount. I pulled the motor out and pulled the cover off the gear area.  Adding lithium grease in there was only marginally helpful.

Email me..  I can get parts at wholesale price, and at Canadian Dollars, at that..    Dealer or aftermarket is no problem, and I’d be happy to ship it to you if you find the price attractive.. Well, Carparts.com has rebuilt ones from A1 Cardone for $50, but that’s not quite original.. — Robert Hancock      Saskatoon, SK, Canada Home Page: http://www.roberthancock.com/

I just assumed it was a dealer only part.  Stupid me.  Thank you so much for the tip!

Went to www.carparts.com   home page….Big sign saying they have joined forces with J.C. Whitney…….     I stopped dealing with J.C. Whitney several years ago because of the incredible amount of junk they were shipping;  garbage parts,   cheap tools,  lots of stuff from China, and Pacific Rim nations,  most of which was no-name brand garbage. I’m assuming this partnership happened very recently  up till now carparts.com was pretty darn useful.     Any thoughts or opinions ??? – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – >Well, Carparts.com has rebuilt ones from A1 Cardone for $50, but that’s not >quite original.. >– >Robert Hancock      Saskatoon, SK, Canada >Home Page: http://www.roberthancock.com/ > I need to replace the rear windshield wiper motor on our ‘98 Olds Sil. > minivan.  I’m not amused that it failed in three years and 45k miles of >very > minimal use.  We don’t get ice or much rain here in Northern California. >I > can only imagine how long it would have lasted in Michigan. > The dealer price for the part is $247 plus tax.  Ouch.  I’m hoping that > somewhere there must be a phone or internet source selling original GM >parts > at a discount. > I pulled the motor out and pulled the cover off the gear area.  Adding > lithium grease in there was only marginally helpful.

Wow, it must have happened yesterday.   The "joining forces" looks like nothing of the sort.  Carparts.com is gone and JC Whitney bought the right to redirect traffic from the carparts.com website to jcwhitney.com. I’m not surprised. I’ve found www.autozone.com to generally have broader coverage than carparts.com and better prices. discountautoparts.com has great prices, great service and high quality products. Onward! John
