Front speakers on 92 Safari
Question:
Hi, Just replaced the stereo in my 1992 GMC Safari, and now I find the front speakers are blown. I want to pick up a new pair on the way home, and the service manual doesn’t mention how big they are. I assume 4" x 6" – is this correct? Lloyd

More data… According to the stereo store (A&B Sound) they’re 6×9. Now, I’ve had a good look at the dash, and they may even be round. But the BIG problem now is installation. My shop manual (Hayes) says to pry off the covers and replace the speakers (ie from the top). But on MY dash, there’s not "speaker cover" – the grill is a part of the top of the dash. Looks like I either have to take the dash apart, or somehow get at them from below. YUK! More beer… Lloyd
