You need a scantool, or in the case of most people, a mechanic and a shop with a scantool. — Mark – Courtice, Ontario, Canada

Response:

It will eventually reset the codes and learned values if you disconnect the battery, but I think it takes some time (at least a half hour, I believe..) Of course if the Check Engine light is coming on, and you haven’t fixed the problem that caused it to come on, it will probably come back on in short order. — Robert Hancock      Saskatoon, SK, Canada Home Page: http://www.roberthancock.com/

Are you sure, Rob?  This is OBDII, I was under the impression that all codes (historical and otherwise) were in non-volatile ram, and would survive any loss of power? Then again, as you mention, the code will come back right away anyhow if the problem isn’t remedied… — Mark – Courtice, Ontario, Canada
