97 GMC Safari Codes

Question:

If the "Freeze Frames," as stored in the PCM strongly suggest that both DTC’s were set at the same time, you should look for a common cause. Perhaps there is a shared ground circuit for both components. Most importantly you need to put out of your mind the misinformation you have that would lead you to make the statement, "Where would we be able to find these parts to change them?" It is true that many times a failed component is to blame, but that very often is not the case.  Correct diagnostics of vehicle systems involves much more than reading a screen and changing a part.  Every day thousands of electronic parts are purchased and installed, and the problem has not been solved.  Take the time to examine the entire circuit, not just the components.  Remember that the DTC’s represent a circuit problem, not a component problem. Good Luck, -Nick

From what I hear, Bulldog remote starters are the pitts. I haven’t used one but a friend of mine did. Had all kinds of problems and finally took it back out and bought another brand. I had one installed in my 99 GMC by a pro that usually does stereo installations. I had to go buy my own cause he doesn’t sell them, but he warned me that  if I came back with a Bulldog, he would not put it in.

We got two codes popping up on our van.  It’s got 71,000 km on the engine. The first is the heat O2 sensor and the second is the tranny servo/lockup. Where would we be able to find these parts to change them.  Can anybody also tell us why this would happen. I should say this started after we tried to install the door lock option on our remote starter and the door locks got stuck in the lock position and wouldn’t open.  After that we got the two codes.  Could it have short circuited something???  The remote starter works but we can’t figure out the door locks.  Anyway the remote starter is by Bulldog Security and our van is a 97 V6 Safari Rear Wheel drive. Thanks
