Explorer market research

I am conducting market research on what attracts buyers to the Ford Explorer. I have all the information I require regarding option, specs, etc. I am looking for the intagibles…what does the Explorer represent in terms of lifestyle, philosophy, emotions etc. Any input / opinions from Explorer owners would be greatly appreciated.

I drove an ‘86 GMC S-15 Jimmy, and I looked at the new Blazers and Jimmies. But the Explorer had a new engine with the SOHC V-6 and a 5 speed auto that gave the Explorer comparable fuel economy and power. But dollar for dollar, the space the Explorer had versus the Jimmy was what put me over the top and got an Explorer. Bryan Bogle ‘97 Explorer XLT

Ford dealer was the only one willing to make a deal. I wanted a Pathfinder or a 4Runner but those dealers want sticker + . I bought my 97 Exploder $700 below invoice. And I’m sure they still made money.
