Electric Window 98 GMC

Question:

The drivers side window on my 1998 GMC Jimmy has quit working. I took the door panel off and put a volt meter on the motor connection. When I push the window switch down I have voltage so I know the wiring and switch are OK. I called salvage yard and they want $50 for a new motor and said that includes the regulator. Looking at the motor it seems to be riveted in place. My question is how big a job is it to change this motor do I have to drill out the rivets and then replace them. I don’t have rivet gun. I am laid off work now so I have lots of time to do this just little money. Tim

Drill out the rivets.  Replace them with nuts & bolts… short ones. Before you buy another motor/reg, check out your old one. Take the motor apart and clean the brushes & comm. Ohm the windings.  Maybe save $50.

Can that be done by drilling out the rivets then replacing with nut and bolt?
