Drivers window on '94 STS
Question:
The window won’t go up or down. The rest of the windows work but the drivers side doesn’t. I hear a relay clicking on and off when I push the switch but The window doesn’t move. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks — Shane…. Response:
Just had this happen to me a little will ago… it was a part of the window motor that broke.

How to fix it depends on the cause of the problem. You will have to diagnose it first. Check for power (forward and reverse) at the motor and then work up the harness if there is no motor power.
Response:
My 1999 GMC Jimmy does the same thing. I have not been able to look at it yet because of open heart surgery. Let me know what you find out. Tim

Tim & Shane: Of course, the motor could have failed, but most likely you have a broken wire in the harness to the driver’s door power window motor. The likeliest place for this to occur is where the harness passes through the driver’s door jamb into the body because it must flex with each door opening. Sometimes the wire will break INSIDE the insulation; doesn’t look broken, but is. It could also be a loose connection. I’m ruling out a bad relay since the other windows work. Since you hear the relay click it is probably not a bad switch, although there are several contacts in those switches. Remove the trim panel and determine if the motor is receiving power as it should. If not, trace back from there. I’m betting it’s a broken wire. Cheap parts, but labor intensive. If you are not doing this yourself, take it to someone who specializes in automobile electric repair. Tim: I had bypass surgery in 1997. It’s a long haul back, but I wish you a full and speedy recovery. My prayers for you. Myron E. Williams – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – > My 1999 GMC Jimmy does the same thing. Thanks I am not need to this I had bypass on February 15 1987 and again on February 7 2002. After three months off work doc says I can go back. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> Tim & Shane: > Of course, the motor could have failed, but most likely you have a broken wire > in the harness to the driver’s door power window motor.
