94 s-15 EGR problem
Question:
Reed, Clean the pintle. It’s likely hung. If that doesn’t so it, remove the EGR and take it to a decent auto parts store and have them match up all the numbers on it. If you just ask for a EGR, you’ll get the wrong one as GM has used as many as 5 differently calibrated units on the same engine. You must get the exact replacement. is this the infamous ‘electronic’ EGR assembly (electrical plug on it)? – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – > Situation is this: > 1994 GMC Jimmy S-15 4.3 vin W 83,000 mi; no previous problems > After 10 mi @ steady 65 mph, at next light, started idling rough, 5 min > later SES light came on. 10 min later got home, left it running, > borrowed friends AutoXray diag box. YAY, someone else that saw the light on this fix! Had it done 4 years ago, at 60,000 miles, no problems since, though I think the intake was cleaned by my mech. when he did the intake gaskets. I had the same experience as you, though I went to a Chevy dealer (closer), they told me about the TSB, so I called a GMC dealer and they fixed it, no cost, though I had to do a little more legwork that I say, it saved me $300 at least… – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – > Take it to the dealer ship , there is a GM fix on that, they replaced my > EGR and PROM, for free, on my 93 s-10, I had 90,000 on mine , and now it > runs fine! > Andy >Situation is this: >1994 GMC Jimmy S-15 4.3 vin W 83,000 mi; no previous problems >After 10 mi @ steady 65 mph, at next light, started idling rough, 5 min >later SES light came on. 10 min later got home, left it running, >borrowed friends AutoXray diag box.
