85 GMC Jimmy 4×4 and towing

I have recently purchased a 18 foot boat and have begun towing with my 85 Full Size 4×4 Jimmy. I have the 700R4 tranny. Should I tow in overdrive or not. Should I add a transmission cooler? Thanks
