1999 GMC Jimmy SLS 2 Door model

Question:

I also have a 200 SLS and it does the same thing but only on a bumpy road… Gee, I forgot to test drive it on a bumpy road when I bought it… I used to have a 87 S-10 and it did the same thing in fact I’ve talked to a number of people that have the same problem. Most of my noise was coming from the panels in the rear seat area and I took foam rubber and stuffed it between the panels and the metal. Worked pretty good. I will also put it in the door panels someday using double back tape…

Response:

Rattling doors have loose parts.  Start at the glass, adjust the stops to limit sideways travel Adhesive backed bicycle handlebar tape is a great " racket buster " for plastic / plastic rattles.    While the door panels are off, check that drain holes are open, and blat some rustproofer in door bottoms

I recently purchased this vehicle and one of the complaints I have is the cheap interior, namely the inside of the door panels and the use of cheap plastic components. Whenever I go over any bumps the doors rattle like an old bus, plastic rubbing against plastic, no rubber gaskets or anything to cushion the noise. Does anyone out there have the same problem, if so,were you able to come up with a solution or is this something I’m just going to have to live with? Thanks.

Response:

Did you test-drive the truck before you bought it?  The panels are typically held on with "christmas tree" type plugs or clips, they are on my 94 (old style) truck.  If the panel has been removed, one or more of these clips probably broke or was smooshed beyond re-use when it was pulled out of it’s hole and then never replaced. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – > I recently purchased this vehicle and one of the complaints > I have is the cheap interior, namely the inside of the door panels > and the use of cheap plastic components. > Whenever I go over any bumps the doors rattle like an old bus, > plastic rubbing against plastic, no rubber gaskets or anything > to cushion the noise.
