I had a car that did that, It was water collecting in the door. Check the weep holes.

Does the truck have A/C? It may be condensation built up. Sounds like the drain tube is plugged up. A piece of coat hanger may do the trick. Love the news group, my question first than boring details. I was wondering if I could Filter the city water (pH=7.5) with an Active Carbon filter (yes, we have chloramines) and let it trickle into the pond at a rate = to evaporation? I have not seen question about how to get rid of Aphids that are on a lotus plant? (maybe sci.bio.entomology) I have 3 ponds (7′x10′oval,11’round, 5.5’square, all 2′ deep (~2400 gals total), a small (15gal) biofilter with a 18′ long creek, 4′ drop with 6 waterfalls and plenty of river jacks/rocks) in Raleigh NC. I lose ~1" in the lower pond/day (~20gals, to much?). I have 320gals/hour pump for the biofilter but also have a 1200gph pump 12vdc with solar panel *to be hooked up*. Which I guess means more evaporation/splashing loss or is the fish drinking that much? (bad Dan). I started about 6wks ago and added 70 bunches of anacharis, plus 8+ other plants, and the water has been clear (too clear) so I added feeder fish,(30 goldfish/50 minnow like fish.) Jump right in… Thanks, sorry so long.

Once the pond is filled and established, then yes, you can add city water at a trickle to compensate for evaporation. You don’t even need to use a carbon filter, unless your water loss is too great (which would most likely indicate a leak, not evaporation). I have such a setup in my pond, and we have chloramines as well. To get rid of aphids on lotus or other water plants, release lady bugs. While waiting for the lady bugs to get eat them up, spray the leaves with strong blasts of water to knock the aphids into the water where they will become fish food. Then find the ant pile for the shepherd ants that are taking care of the aphids. Pour boiling water followed by vinegar into a hole in the pile made by poking in and circling a long stick to make a funnel shape in the soil. Repeat this several times on subsequent days until the mound is dead. — Signed, Kellie My Karma Ran Over My Dogma. It was a catastrophe! Now my dogma’s dead and my karma’s out of alignment. My pond seems balanced – the water is clear. the fish are healthy and happy, the pH is OK, the plants are blooming – but – the water stinks! Is there a solution to this or are all ponds the same? Also, I need to divide my plants and want to share them with a neighbor who is refurbishing a pond in his yard. Is now a good time to replant or should we wait until spring? its a bad type of algae, kills plants by overtaking all parts of them. it can also kill fish 250 mg. tell me, why don’t we like blue green algae? Is it because it smells? And How do you get rid of it. What conditions bring it on? its a bad type of algae, kills plants by overtaking all parts of them. it can also kill fish 250 mg. Erythomicyn per 10 gals for 1 dose only will kill it. usually wont kill a healthy bio-filter — Ken Arnold, KenCo Fish & Supplies Pond and Aquarium fish, Shipping plants/fish etc. a specialty Imported & domestic Koi,Goldfish,Orandas, Tropicals, exotics, Piranhas etc.

Now my dogma’s dead and my karma’s out of alignment. its a bad type of algae, kills plants by overtaking all parts of them. it can also kill fish 250 mg. Erythomicyn per 10 gals for 1 dose only will kill it. usually wont kill a healthy bio-filter — Ken Arnold, KenCo Fish & Supplies Pond and Aquarium fish, Shipping plants/fish etc. a specialty Imported & domestic Koi,Goldfish,Orandas, Tropicals, exotics, Piranhas etc.

I’ve been using that stuff for years, as a shampoo, fruit and vegetable wash, and many other household uses. I buy it in the gallon jug size. I just bought one tonight, and now I have to go back and return it tomorrow — they changed the formula. Now there’s hemp oil in the stuff. Keep in mind that hard water reacts with ordinary soap to form an organic waxy scum (calcium stearate) that sticks to your skin like glue, and may act as a nutrient for bacteria. Using Cetafil instead of soap will eliminate this residue, as will using soap with distilled water. Since I have very hard water, I don’t have a cake of soap in the house, but use Dial liquid soap or dish washing detergent as bathing soap. Both seem to rinse off completely in hard water. I will watch for the results of your experiment. — John Popelish

Wearing a little salt will help keep your skin moist. (I know it sounds like just the opposite.) I use a solution of 2 cups water to 1 tablespoon salt. Just a little spritz (as if you were applying cologne) and a rub is enough to make a difference. John Popelish

Adams, sufficient water is essential for the proper metabolism of the human body. Adequate amounts generally recommended are 8 – 8oz glasses of water per day. Water helps flush toxins from the body through the urinary tract and colon, and keeps electrolytes balanced. Avoiding sugars and simple carbos also helps with acne breakouts.

I drink about 80 oz of water a day……boy is this hard. You should take a potassium supplement becuase drinking lots of water can flush out a lot of potassium in your body. Hello all, Could someone please tell me if drinking from between 2 to 3 gallons of water a day is too much for my kidneys. Someone in the Grand Rounds echo said that more than a gallon of water a day is too much for the kidneys and we lose electrolytes. Is this the case? And also i’m not drinking the water for health reasons but because i’m thirsthy. Thanks, Francesca

If you’re drinking that much water a day because you’re thirsty, I’d have yourself checked out by a competent endocrinologist or urologist. It might be a symptom of diabetes insipidus–your body might not be producing enough ADH (anti-diuretic hormone) or your kidneys might be refractory to the amount you produce. — Steve Dyer
