tires size? what to check on when buying a used truck?

Question:

what are the common size for tires in a full size chev (stock)? what are some things I should specifically look at in a 95 5.7L GMC 1500? it’s got 94k on it and the guy wants just under $12,000. I think he’s kinda high on the price but I’m going to look at it and make an offer for the heck of it, probably somewhere around 10k I’m thinking. Anyway, back to my question, what are some things I should specifically be certain to look at when I check out this truck? It’s going to need new tires soon apparantly, but has leather int, dual exhaust, and sounds to be a good truck. thanks Nater upjeeper at hotmail dot com

Response:

Pull the dipstick for the tranny and see if smells burnt. Look at the ATF on the stick? Shiny red? or dark? The 95 is a good truck other than the 4L60E sometimes causes trouble. I bought a 94 crewcab Chevy a year ago. It just rolled over 330,000 km. (15000kms on fresh 350)

I just bought a ‘95 C1500 Ext. Cab for $5300.  It had 135,000 miles. $12,000 is WAY too much. Kyle

If your still looking into information on tire sizes for 4X4s one thing to keep in mind is when you turn the wheels the front tires (if to large) will hit the front fender at the inside front and inside back.  Major damage can and will happen. To fix the problem: get smaller tires or raise the vehicle via suspenssion lift kit or body lift kit. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text ->www.tirerack.com lists 225/75r16 as original equipment size.  245/75r16 and >265/75r16 are listed as OE optional sizes for a 95 GMC 1500 series 4×4 >pickup. >go to www.kbb.com and select private party vehicles, and enter the info >about the truck, it’ll give you an idea what it’s worth.  not knowing what >options the vehicle has, or the condition, i could get an accurate estimate, >but prices range from about $7000-$8000 for a 4×4 long bed regular cab 95 >GMC 1500 pickup, depending on what options it has, and assuming it’s in >"good" condition. >> what are the common size for tires in a full size chev (stock)? >> what are some things I should specifically look at in a 95 5.7L GMC 1500? >> it’s got 94k on it and the guy wants just under $12,000. I have a ‘96 Chevy K1500, I had 101,000miles on it when i bought it. Grill guard, Tool box, Flow masters, and some other little goodies on it.. The inside was very clean and the body only had a few little dings, and the paint was good. Truck with ttl (about $800 i think) and a $1500 warranty it cost me $13,000 from a car lot. Adair
