You don’t, because that would deactivate the odometer and that would involve the little matter of breaking the law now wouldn’t it? — Robert Hancock      Saskatoon, SK, Canada Home Page: http://members.home.net/hancockr

There is more then one way to get the true milage out of these new trucks other then the odometer, but thankfully people don’t really know about that feature..  :-) Hope it’s not leased!  You’ll get in big poo-poo! — Mark,  Oshawa, Ontario, Canada Remove NOSPAM to respond via Email! I thought I had heard that the ABS also had a speedo tie in that would get screwed up if disconnected. ron

Knowledge is NOT illegal. He NEVER said anything about himself performing *this* procedure. Guess none of you boys ever *did* anything illegal, eh? Some people I know feel that once you buy a motor vehicle it belongs to *you*, not the Communist or Socialist Collective Group as a whole…I feel sorry for those of you that are confused. With my 1990 Suburban I found out what happens when you do disconnect the vehicle speed sensor. The odometer and speedometer doesn’t work and after about 10 miles the service engine lite came on. But it did run fine. The vehicle speed sensor is located on the back end of the transmission. I disconnected it to test its performance by itself in an effort to troubleshoot an intermittent brake failure light coming on. The diagnostics suggested the vehicle speed sensor was at fault and the speedometer was occasionally cycling wildly. I have since put it back in the circuit and there have been no more problems. I suppose I had a bad connection.
