Smelly fumes
Question:
I have a 89 GMC 1500 truck with a 4.3L. Lately I’ve been getting some rotten fumes after I’ve run the truck for a while. I have a clean air filter and new PCV valve. It’s not really a gas smell but a rotten fume smell like you would get from a diesel tractor trailer sometimes. I put on a new after-market exhaust and catalytic converter a couple of years ago too.

Well, a catalytic converter equiped car tend to smell like rotten eggs, sort of propane stenched. If this is what you’re smelling it is nothing wrong with the car. "They" claim this is all for the sake of the environment. — Erik
