question about 98 Sonoma 4×4 and 4L60/4L60E Trans
Question:
lots of people have the problem and they are lying to you, the code (P-1870) is for ’slipping transmission component the dealer fix is to replace the valve body. that being said: go find a good independent shop that does a lot of trucks, and tell them what has been found, and ask them to install the Sonnax TCC regulator valve in your unit. this consists of reaming the worn BORE where that particular valve rides, and installing a slightly oversized valve. much more cost-effective. ask them to check the wiring for needing the jumper too, they’ll know what that’s about E-mail if you have any further questions G

Response:
ok, here’s my question, I have a 98 GMC Sonoma 4×4 with the 4L60 trans (modern day 700R4, of which I have in my 86 Trans Am WS6) and I had an issue with hard shifts from 1st to 2nd gear ONLY, and it was intermittent. By The Way, my truck has 91,200 miles approximately (lots of highway driving…since the small northeast Ohio town I live in is close to NOTHING!!!) and this started happening a week or so ago, I took it to a local dealership yesterday, and they tuned it up but couldnt recreate the code that caused my SES light to go on, so they did their thing and gave it back to me, and last night the code came back, and lasted through today and I took it back in and the code that came up was for the trans, which ended up being a faulty valve body. Has anyone else had this problem? Jason Sobol 98 GMC Sonoma Cleveland Ohio
