New Tahoe Transmission Tweak?
Question:
Does anyone know of an electronic shift kit for the new Tahoes? I called B&M (have one of their kits on a ‘94 Suburban and it’s the best $40 ever spent!) and they didn’t even know if they would make one for the new series. I don’t want to change the shift points, just how fast it shifts. It is definitely better in tow/haul mode, but that also changes the shift points and locks out 4th. Any Ideas?
Response:
yes. stay away from ‘Bowel and eneMa’ ’shift kits’.

Jet makes a few kits for the 4L60E. www.jetchip.com For some reason I can’t find their 4-stage shift control unit on their website. You can buy it from www.truckperformance.com or any place else for about $120. Electronic only – does not replace any mechanical parts or require dropping the pan on the transmission. -James

I know you said you didn’t need to change the shift points, but thought I’d mention that the HyperTech Power Programmer III is now out for the 2001 GMCs – must have happened in the last couple of weeks. Way more expensive, but it does also give you some engine pep, does away with the speed limiter, and most important to me, lets you tune the tire size/speedometer rate. I’ve used these on my Camaros and Corvettes for years. KeS BTW – Tow/Haul doesn’t lock out 4th on my 2001 Tahoe, thought it does hang onto 3rd longer.
