lights to gauges conversion?

I have a ‘79 GMC truck with trouble lights. I have a spare cluster from another truck with guages. I tried just plugging the gauges cluster into the current harness but it doesn’t work. Anyone tried switching to gauges and what all is involved? Brad

yes hes right, the sending units will almost always be different between lights and gauges.
