Gas pedel sticking 2000 5.3

Question:

>Someone in another post reported this problem on a "99" and said the dealer >had a service bulletin which called for replacing the T.B.

Yeah, but I’ve seen plenty with the date code late enough that it doesn’t call for replacement sticking. >Big Daddy seems to be well informed on GM products, so unless the SB just >came out I would believe he is right.

Ought to be, been working for GM for 14 years. Another way to fix it, although the bulletin says not to, is to turn the idle stop screw in about 1/2 turn. That isn’t enough that it affects the readings for the TPS or the IAC counts, but will keep the throttle blade from hanging in the housing, which is whats causing the problem to begin with. The thing is not to get carried away turning the screw…1/2 turn should do it…more and you start fooling with the ‘puter’s ability to control the idle speed…*then* you’ll get a ‘check engine’ light. I started doing this before the bulletin came out and have never had one that I did it to come back. Big Daddy ICQ#6342575 ASE Master Auto Technician Chevrolet Certified Master Tech.

Not a DIY, I believe it’s a recall item.  The dealer should fix it free anyway, the truck should still be under warranty…  Anyone know the details? – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – > My gas peddle is sticking and when I start I have to push it hard and then > it jumps to a start. Not a recall, but a service bulletin.  You can clean the throttle bore with a little carb cleaner and that would help, or just take it back to the dealer and let them do it.  It should be under warranty.  I must do 2 or 3 a week. — Wally Crow aka Big Daddy   ‘74 Sporty XLH Dinah-Mo Humm SENS    TOMKAT           ICQ# 6342575      AIM "crowfam4" http://the_crows_nest.homestead.com/index.html

Your GM dealer has access to a bulletin #00-06-04-007 that states the "Condition may be caused by a tight throttle blade in the throttle body bore when in the closed position." The fix is to replace the throttle body if the date code stamped on the throttle body is 2979 or earlier. The bulletin pertains to 1999-2000 Chevrolet and GMC Pick up models.
