Try jiggling the key. > 2/ temp guage not working???
Check that the wire is connected to the sending unit at the cylinder head, on the drivers side. Trace the wire, and look for breaks in it. It will be a single wire. > 3/what is the best carb for my 305ci the one on there at moment is a 4 > barrel but not a Holly.
Holley is a decent carb(don’t flame me ;>}I run a Holley) Carter AFB is probably better. Holleys are cheap. Stick with a "spreadbore replacement" whatever brand carb you buy. Drag link is most likely worn. The centerlink may have some play too. Check the draglink first. > thanks in advance, graham.

I have the same exact problem with my steering… any help would be greatly appreciated! I’d also be interested in what anyone has to say regarding the carb question since I have a 305 in my ‘85 K5. Does the window roll up & down with the key (or is your truck so equipped?) : 2/ temp guage not working??? Could be sending unit in radiator, gauge in dash, or wire in between. I’d check continuity on the wire, then check voltage at the sensor. Be nice to have a wiring diagram. : 3/what is the best carb for my 305ci the one on there at moment is a 4 : barrel but not a Holly. "Best" for… off-road? Racing? Fuel consumption? Street? Whatare the smog laws where you live?

4) "steering wanders". On my son’s 85 you could turn the steering wheel 1/3 turn with no effect. I found one end of the drag link connecting to the pitman arm badly worn. I replaced it and now the steering is pretty good. All it took to fix was a $27 drag link end, a tie rod separator (borrowed) and a sledge hammer. My 16 yr old son did the work.
