95 5.7l, best mileage mods?

Question:

I have a 95 GMC 1500 4×4 truck.  105k miles.  It gets in the neighborhood of 15mpg.  What is the best aftermarket modification for more mileage.  The only thing I have done so far is a k+n air filter. An aftermarket ignition or exhaust is something I am considering but Im not so sure that the cost would justify it. Eric z

Response:

Bigger intake box and freer flowing exhaust/headers, get a higher axle gear (lower numerically), if possible.  The EPA estimate is about 13.5 mpg combined, so you are doing quite okay.

Response:

Flowaster or Borla exhaust.MSD or Jacobs ignition system. Make sure you use the correct weight oil for the time of year in your area.Be judicious about tire pressure. Use a very light right foot.
