91 K1500, hard starting?

Question:

I’ve had my 1991 GMC K1500 for about a year now.  The truck has 265,000 KM on it…the engine was rebuilt when I bought it (0 miles) I’ve got the typical Chevy small block starting blues.  I am plagued by hot-starts (after coming off the highway, restarting is sometimes very difficult) but only sporadically.  Now its getting chilly, and if the truck has been sitting for a long period, it spins noticably slower that it used to. I’m a chevy muscle-car guy, so I know what it takes to fix this.  I wanted to know if there was a quick and easy solution to this problem that is unique to the Chev/GMC 4×4 trucks.  These are the items I’m thinking: 1.  battery not quite up to par 2.  aftermarket starter (unknown age) is going for a sh*t 3.  poor ground somewhere 4.  combination of all of the above I know that simply replacing the starter and battery are an easy way out, but expensive.  Is there something easy to check? Thanks! b

Response:

Idle Air Control Valve or any 1 of the sensors that control this device could be malfunctioning. As far as the cold weather cranking problem is concerned are u using a multi-viscosity oil such as 10W40. — 714 Sandpile, The Mad Dog wavin’ good bye
