Response:
The TV linkage was reset to the factory spec as per the factory GM manual. I have disconected the linkage from the tranny and tried it in drive this way, and it still slips. I guess its fried. Too bad, I’ve only had the truck a week, purchased from a guy who never had a problem with it. (i’ve known him about a year and a half). I haven’t done a burn out with it or got stuck or anything. I sold a trouble free Dakota for this truck, and have already done the clutch fan and EGR. The vehicle is in mint shape with 140k kms (about 70k miles), but I am a little pissed off right now. Q. Is there any kind of updates I can do when it is in for a rebuild? Heavy duty parts, shift kit etc?

Response:
no hands-on adjust as follows: disconnect it set the sliding adjustment so that you must pull the cable out about 3/8" to hook it up. use that as a starting spot let it make a minimum-throttle 1-2 shift, then floor it it MUST shift back down to first, if it doesn’t, the throttle valve is hung up or the cable has stretched. If it passes the test, then adjust it for desired shift points, hopefully the slip will disappear

Ext.cab short box. 4speed Had the linkage off that holds the throttle cable and the TV cable and after reassembly the truck won’t shift properly. It was perfect before. Driving down the road for a test drive I noticed drive slipped. After inspection, I found that the TV cable came off of the throttle linkage. After replacement, TV cable on or off makes no difference. As soon as third hits it slips bad. Manually pull it into second and no problem. Drove the truck about 3 miles like this to make it home. Can all this be attributed just to a TV cable adjustment? Or did I smoke it? I would think that they are tougher than that. Thanks in advance.
Response:
Will Reset the TV linkage from the open throttle position. The vehicle should have gone into "limp mode", disconnect one of the battery terminals for a couple of minutes to reset the ECU. Should be OK. If you have any other transmission questions post them at http://www.autotransinc.com/index2.htm go to the msg board Bill
