From what I’m seeing with the automatic T-cases…you are better off with the manual set-up. We are seeing "lots" of front diff and/or auto t/case failures. Problems in the front diff can actually do a lot of damage to the clutch pack in the auto t-cases. Just had a truck in the shop that the front diff grenaded……side bearing came apart and the end result was a completely trashed front diff. This in turn burnt up the clutch pack in the transfer case so badly that the t/case was destroyed. We installed a new diff and new t-case. Truck had 10,000 klms on it. 2002. We have a new service bulletin that addresses noise, lack of 4×4….etc. Once diagnostic procedure has been followed…fix is to overhaul front diff….overhaul clutch pack in t-case. So there are problems with the automatic t/case systems. Ian

Karl, The less electronics, the better. I love electronics. I’m an electronic fenatic, but they don’t mix well in vehicles. If you want something that will be cheap to fix out of warranty, get the manual shift. If you have money, and will trade-in after the warranty expires, get the electronic. Toys are for those that can afford the repairs in the long run. Give me an old man’s car anytime. A/C, power steering and brakes,…. and yes, a rear window defroster. GMdude

This code is set usually by the last fuel fill-up, and the fuel cap is not tight. Yes,.. it will reset over a period of time, or you can get it reset with a scan tool. To prevent this,… when you fuel up, turn the gas cap untill you hear it click. There may also be an air leak in the fuel system. But the most common problem is a loose gas cap. GMdude
