4.3 v6 95 Cheyenne 4×4

Question:

Have oil on front engine cover and seeping water/antifreeze.  Is pump suseptable to leaking at 68,000 miles? Is it a plastic timing cover? may be the oil leak? Have not bought this yet but seems to be in ok shape other than the oil and anti freeze I found by laying on my back and lookig under by front pulleys on engine. I see this particular year has a 4.3 that is exclusive to the year listing crankshaft onfor particulars including dual temp sensors and machined surfaces for crank gear and sensors. I have a 89 k1500 (v8 305)that has 225,000 miles on it that I got as a trade out of because of a 4.3 I had a ton of problems  with in an 88 gmc(vibrated constantly) They changed everthing you can name and then some and did no good. But this engine does not seem to be that way. Any comments?? My old one is still running good….but my calls me" Fred flintstone " because I can put my feet out the floor and drag them like Fred!!!!!! time for a upgrade I guess. I dont use the truck much so I cant justify a newer one.

Again, IMHO the 4.3 isn’t enough motor for the full size truck, although they are great in the S series.  In your case I’d suspect radiator hose or water pump, possible front seal.  Timing cover should be metal.

Hello! Well I bought the truck(a little old lady ) owned it!!! serious they did not tell me till I bought it!! I looked again and did not see any puddles under it this morning…and drove it home tonighyt and checked the radiator fill and it was still at level it was at. Must be just a leak from being real cold and seeped a bit which I have seen in cold weather. Only prob I have so far is they gave me 2 keys but both are alike  and wont unlock doors(Itried with them open) They washed before I picked it up. May be froze. Is it true that one key fits all now? My 89 has 2 different keys??
