Envoy 2002 Auto4X4
Question:
I would like to know what proportion of power is distributed to front wheels when the auto 4X4 is engage (50-50, variable?) . How does the system know when to go back to 2WD. If I am at a stop sign in snowy condition, it will engage, but for how long, just a few seconds? Thanks

it’s in the owner’s manual. front axle is ingaged at all times when in auto. t/case has a viscous clutch ass’y that transfers varying amounts of power to the front when the back begins to slip(works off driveline speed variation). when you shift to 4high or 4 low, it basically locks the viscous clutch Old Crow ‘74 Sporty chop(sold and gone!)
