The reason there are so few replies is because the answer is "no." The contribution by David Ross above , http://www.explorerexpress.com/catalog/catalog.html?3801, refers to rear-facing jumpseat, not the forward facing type you specified. I think it has something to do with the distance from the rear hatch and the back of the passengers head (nearly zero), and product liability concerns. I don’t see how you could fit a 3rd seat in a 91-01 facing forward and still have atleast 12" of space between head and hatch. Sorry for the bad news, but especially with children, I think its better to be safe and sorry. Good excuse to trade up to the 02 w/ 3 seat option, or the extended Envoy/Blazer w/ 3rd seat (it beat out MotorWeek’s SUV of the year against the new Explorer design)

Here is part of the description from the link below. It CAN be forward-facing. I was like you and did NOT read it the first time. "The seat comes with two lap belts/harnesses and can be removed for additional cargo space or reversed to face the front or rear." — – Zilla (Remove XSPAM)

Response:
Ya got me. But still, I really wonder how much safety spacing from the rear hatch is retained when facing forward. Need to hear from someone who has installed one of these things.
